SEOUL, November 4, 2026 – North Korea fired multiple missiles toward the sea on Wednesday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced, triggering renewed attention to security developments on the Korean Peninsula.
South Korean military officials detected several missile launches directed toward waters off North Korea's eastern coast. Authorities in South Korea and the United States are examining the details, including the type and flight characteristics of the missiles.
Seoul said its military remains on high alert and is prepared to respond to any potential provocation.
North Korea Rejects US Accusations
The missile launches came hours after North Korean officials rejected US accusations linking Pyongyang to a major cyberattack against cryptocurrency exchange Binance.
Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, criticized the allegations and described them as part of Washington's hostile policy toward her country.
North Korea also indicated that it currently sees little reason to resume diplomatic talks with the United States.
Rising Tensions in East Asia
Security analysts believe the latest military activity could be intended to increase pressure on Washington and strengthen Pyongyang's position in any future diplomatic negotiations.
North Korea has intensified its weapons testing in recent months, while tensions between the two Koreas have continued to grow.
The latest missile launches add another layer of uncertainty to an already sensitive regional security situation.
South Korean and US authorities are continuing to assess the launches.
